Under the Levitical Law or the Torah?

Galatians is a book of contention because of the many references to the Torah and its applications. Galatians is an area that is found in today’s country of Turkey which was mainly Gauls/Celtics and there were people that knew the Torah which most probably those of the 10 tribes of the lost House of YAHisrael. Hence the group that was trying to force the new converts to do the Torah according to YAHUdism and Sha’ul addresses them as exiles.

He asks them because of who and why do they not obey the Truth and why have they forgotten that Ha Mashiach has died so that they are saved by believe (Spirit) and not by the works (Flesh) of the Levitical Law. Take note the issue was not the whole Torah but the Levitical law of the Torah.

“For those who rely on the works of the law (Levitical) are still under the curse, for as it is written, cursed is everyone who does not practice everything which is written in the book of the Torah. Gal 3:10 (Deut. 27:26)

This he points out by saying that Abraham was saved, made righteous, through belief and not by the works of the Torah. And Abraham and his descendants receive barak because of Abraham’s belief. Therefore those that have a belief in ELOHIM like Abraham are children of Abraham. And those that rely on the works of the Torah to be saved are under the curse of death because works will not save them but belief will.

Ha Mashiach’s trustworthiness, through dying, abolished the curse of death, replacing the debt penalty of sins with undeserved favour and allowed the lost House of YAHisrael to be redeemed with YAHudah if they accepted Him as their Ha Mashiach, belief in ELOHIM, repent and do the Torah. We now receive the Spirit, Torah within us and the Spirit is our Teacher of the Torah and not the Trainers (Levitical Priest). We are now led by the Spirit and not our flesh.

Now Sha’ul explains what law he is talking about. The Torah has been around from the days of AHdam as in the offerings of Cain and Abel. The Levitical Law was a temporary law and was not part of the Abrahamic Covenant. The blood of Ha Mashiach will do away with the Levitical Law and do what it could not do which is to remove the death penalty of the sins.

Gal 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant which was previously confirmed by ELOHIM in Ha Mashiach cannot be repudiated and the promise nullified by the (Levitical) Law that came four hundred and thirty years later.
Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance is through the (Levitical) Law then it would not be as the fulfilment of promise; but ELOHIM gave it to Abraham by promise.
Gal 3:19 Why then the (Levitical) Law? It was placed beside (The Torah) for the sake of transgressions, until the Seed should come, to whom it had been promised, being given by promise in a mediator’s hand.
Gal 3:20 Now a mediator does not represent one alone, but ELOHIM is one (Echad).
Gal 3:21 Then is the (Levitical) Law against the promises of YAHUAH? ELOHIM forbid! For if a law had been given which had been able to make alive, indeed righteousness would have been out of Law.
Gal 3:22 But the Scripture locked up all under sin, that the promise by belief of YAHUSHA Ha Mashiach might be given to the ones believing.
Gal 3:23 But before the coming of belief, we were protected under Law, having been locked up to the belief being about to be revealed.
Gal 3:24 So that the (Levitical) Law has become a trainer of us until Ha Mashiach, that we might be justified by belief.
Gal 3:25 But since belief has come, we are no longer under trainers;
Gal 3:26 for you are all sons of YAHUAH through belief in Ha Mashiach YAHUSHA.
Gal 3:27 For as many as were baptized into Ha Mashiach, you put on Ha Mashiach.
Gal 3:28 There cannot be Jew nor Aramean, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is no male and female; for you are all one (Echad), united in Ha Mashiach YAHUSHA.
Gal 3:29 And if you are of Ha Mashiach, then you are seeds of Abraham, even heirs according to the promise.

Sha’ul cannot possibly be talking about the whole Torah here, as he plainly states that whatever law was added, that it was not there 430 years previously when YAHUAH made a covenant with Abraham, but Gen 26:4-5 clearly shows that the reason YAHUAH made covenant with Abraham was because Abraham obeyed and preserved His statutes, commandments, and Torah. The only law that was added to the Torah at Mount Sinai was the Levitical priesthood with its sacrifices, which was temporarily set next to the Torah for the Levitical priesthood to be a temporary mediator for YAHisrael until the reality of the Melachizedek priesthood would come through YAHUSHA. The Levitical sacrifices could not take away the penalty of sin, but merely remind them of it.

There was a group amongst the Galatians that wanted to go back under the Levitical Law to achieve their salvation through works. Shu’al corrects them that they have already received their salvation through Ha Mashiach who achieved what the Levitical Law could not. They still had to do the Torah which was placed in their inner parts through the Spirit in them.
